This was removed from working MacPro6,1 (Late-2013 Mac Pro) during the refurbishment process. It was completely wiped of data and PASSED a two-pass Certification process u sing the OWC SoftRAID product. (Two-passes are required in order to test the complete storage media.) Unfortunately, many sellers simple initialize the drive and post it for sale. That can lead to problems down the road when you attempt to use features such as Recovery Mode or begin to suspect failure conditions in the drive itself. Many people who tinker with this vintage of computer keep a handful of these around "just in case" they need an original OEM storage media to get past some firmware or other issue with their computer. As I refurbish many of the Late-2013 Mac Pro machines, I tend to accumulate too many of these so I take the time to Certify the media and occasionally offer spares for sale. This unit will be seen as BLANK and will require Initialization when you connect it to your Mac. That is as simple as running Disk utility and selecting Erase and giving the media a label (and the label is optional). Please note this has a connector commonly know as 12+16, due to the pin count on one side of the device. It works on several models of Macbook from the same time period as the MacPro6,1 (Late-2013 macPro). Please know what you are buying as there are no returns on this item. Enjoy your day!
